Dedicated to the Officers and Men who rode the USS Samuel S. Miles, and all men
and women who served in the Allied armed forces during World War II. Without their
sacrifices, the world today would be a dark and evil place.
Welcome to the (HIGHLY unofficial) home page of the USS Samuel S. Miles! The Miles
was a destroyer escort, commissioned in 1943, which saw service in the Pacific Theater
of Operations during World War II. The ship's war service included the sinking at
least one submarine and a hit by a Kamikaze suicide aircraft attack in mid-April,
1945. This attack caused damage which required shipyard-level repair back in the
United States.
If anyone has any information on the Miles which they would like to include on this web site, please contact the site author. I am especially interested in pictures, anecdotes, and the location of any of the former crew members.
